*REVIEW – The Chestnut Man by Søren Sveistrup I read this as part of the #perfectstrangersreadalong Wow – this book certainly had me hooked from the first page! Now, I will say there’s nothing particularly ‘new’ in this as crime thrillers go – you’ll see the usual tropes and the investigating duo Thulin and Hess are sort of typical – but that didn’t matter, I was still invested in the characters. The chapters are mostly short and snappy – pulling you in, ripping you up and spitting you back out again. It’s a complex read – I did have to write down the character names because there were a lot to begin with – but the multi-layered plot required this so once I got into the swing of it, it was fine. It was a gripping tale of murder with a hefty dose of ‘creepy’ and lots of twists and turns with a denouement I definitely didn’t see coming. Talk about blind-sided! Cleverly woven together, the author keeps you on your toes! I think it’s safe to say this was a 5* read for me.
